At Royal Family KIDS Camp 2024, we hosted 58 campers, our largest group since the pandemic! What a camp it was! First there was the epic cicada invasion! Our city kids were shocked to find these large bugs covering the campground. Our counselors and staff helped them to embrace the experience, and by the end of camp, we heard stories of so many kids collecting them, bravely picking them up, performing skits about them in the talent show, and yes, one camper even ate one on stage! None of us will ever forget the year the cicadas came to visit us at camp!!

One of our overarching themes at camp was “Wonderfully Made” based on Psalm 139:14. Through the bible stories and skits, we let our campers know that God created them and they are made to belong to His family.
Camp S.O.T.O: One counselor shared that his camper told him, “You’re going to leave me just like everyone else does.” He assured him that his plan was to continue to be in his life, and hoped they would be together at Mentoring Club in the fall.
Every chance we had, we let our campers know they are forever loved, forever welcomed into God’s family, and that they are “LOVED, NO MATTER WHAT.” This message was imprinted on the bunnies they took home, and we hope this message was imprinted on their hearts as well.
