Year 14 - 2020

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we were unable to hold a traditional camp so we developed a “Camp at Home” experience for all of our 34 returning campers and their families. The week began with a drive-thru parade in our church parking lot! As cars arrived, we cheered, played our theme song, and held up signs with the campers’ names. The campers were greeted by their counselors who walked alongside the cars and took them through the stations of camp.

The smiles on the faces of our kids and their families shined along their “camp” journey! At the Pick-up Station each family was given a “Camp in a Box” filled with all the activities that they could enjoy with their families throughout the week of camp! Each caregiver was also blessed with a gift card to provide for extra family needs. We sent them off with a shower of streamers over their cars! Each camper also received a photo album of their parade journey by mail.

We created virtual cabins for our kids to meet with staff daily. During our Zoom sessions, we celebrated the special events each day, listened to the Bible story, and tried the Olympic challenge activity. Each cabin also performed a special act which we broadcast in a Zoom “All Camp Talent Show!” We also celebrated our graduates with a special ceremony.

CAMP SOTO: The feedback we received from our families was very positive. One mom wrote to us about her son’s experience. ..“I love the philosophy of RFK to make the kids feel nothing but cherished for the week of camp. The week that kids are at camp is a great break from daily expectations and allows for that ‘nothing but cherished’ atmosphere. He had a lot of fun with what he was able to participate in and looked forward to the cabin calls and video. Everyone with camp did such a great job and we so appreciated the time and effort everyone put in!”
